French hotel operator Accor said on Thursday it will invest EUR 22 million in the construction of hotel in Bulgaria`s capital Sofia under its Novotel brand, which will be built in co-operation with local investment company MHQ.

The hotel will be accommodated in a 15-storey mixed-use complex located on the Tsarigradsko Chaussee Boulevard, near shopping centre The Mall. Accor has already launched construction works at the site and expects to complete the project by January 2013.

The complex will feature 8,100 sq m of office space, while the hotel area will take up 9,600 sq m, housing 177 rooms, six conference halls, a restaurant, a lobby bar and relaxation zone.

Accor is a major hotel operator, currently running 4,200 hotels in more than 90 countries. Apart from the Novotel chain, it also operates hotels under the Sofitel, Mercure and All seasons brands.
