Varna is the most active market of shopping malls, the active development of the sector can lead to change the initial concepts of some of the projects. If completed all started projects Varna will be first by retail space saturation of all cities in this country according to the data of the consulting company MBL. One of the main indicators for the sector development is the ratio of the total retail space to 1,000 inhabitants, the rate in the Black Sea main city will reach about 650 sq. m per 1,000 persons. Second best come Plovdiv and Stara Zagora respectively with 500 sq. m per 1,000. For Sofia this indicator will reach 397 sq. m per 1,000 inhabitants which is a little bit below the average for the big Bulgarian cities which is 425 per 1,000. At the end come Veliko Tarnovo and Burgas with 157 sq. m per 1,000.
The Varna the GLA in shopping malls under construction or planned in the coming three to four years is about 202,000 sq. m. Four of the projects under construction in the Black Sea main city are near Osmi Primorski Polk blvd. and Vladislav Varnenchik blvd., the fourth is in Mladost neighbourhood.
