Google Trends: Bulgaria is no longer a preferred second home place 2008-06-24 10:58 News from StandartNews
Google Trends, which publishes statistics about the vacation-home market for the first time, announced that the buyers` interest to the purchase of a second home in Bulgaria had decreased considerably. A prove of that are the deals at 350 euro per square meter of built-up area along Bulgaria`s Black Sea coast.
The popularity of the vacation homes drastically decreased in the last year. According to Google Trends, the reason lies in the information about huge corruption and crime rates in Bulgaria. Turkey and Bulgaria are among the countries which suffer considerable loses from the global credit crisis, the survey shows.
However, Bulgaria comes sixth among the hot spots for a second home and this leading position is due to the Russian buyers, the survey reads further. Spain, France, Portugal, Italy and the US state of Florida are the frontrunners in the chart. Bulgaria is followed by Cyprus an Turkey and is slowly stepping back to make place to other Eastern European countries like Poland, for example.
Portugal remains among the favourites as the market there has always been driven by the prices and is greatly attractive to buyers with a modest budget.
According to Google, most of the buyers of a second home come from Ireland, closely followed by the Britons. The latest data show that the buyers prefer a second home in a country, close to their motherland. This makes Bulgaria an attractive place for Irishmen, Britons, Russians, Spaniards and even Poles. Don`t forget about the Dutchmen, advises Google. They are among the savvy second home hunters of real estates in Europe, but Bulgaria is not among the top destinations for them.
