A growing number of Bulgarian homebuyers took loans to bankroll purchases of prefab concrete flats in March, credit consultants Credit Center said in its monthly mortgage market review.

The analysts explained that low prices help this type of property lure buyers from the largest group. They are lookin to buy one-bedroom apartments for EUR 35,000 and EUR 45,000.

Over the past months, local lenders have sweetened funding terms and conditions for prefab concrete flats, covering 70-75% of the cost, Credit Center said.

In another trend that has emerged on the Bulgarian mortgage market in March, the low prices of properties prompted borrowers to seek funding to cover 100% of the property cost.

Currently, banks only provide 100% of the property cost to customers who also mortgage a second home property.
