Housing prices in Radomir grew by 70 per cent in 2007, according to realtors, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported. The small town, around 40 km south-west of Sofia, attracts buyers with its proximity to the capital city and low residential prices.
Brokers’ quotes show that one-room flats are on offer for about 20 000 leva, two-room apartments sell at 25 000 to 35 000 leva - depending on their condition location - and three-room units fluctuate between 35 000 and 45 000 leva. Houses can be bought at 42 000-90 000 leva.
Average residential prices in the Pernik region as a whole grew by 40 per cent in 2007 on 2006’s levels, reaching 918 leva a sq m, according to National Statistical Institute data.
People buying homes in Radomir are mostly Sofians and people from elsewhere in Bulgaria who work in the capital but cannot afford housing there. The town is also popular with older people wanting to live near their children in Sofia.
