Sofia amongst the most expensive warehousing market in Central and Eastern Europe

With a rental price of EUR 79 per square metre a year, Sofia ranks as the most expensive warehousing market in Central and Eastern Europe for 2008, according to commercial real estate brokers and consultants Cushman & Wakefield.

The Bulgarian capital is trailed by the Balkan and Baltic states as well as Vienna, Milan and Brussels. It is outpaced only by Kiev and Moscow, having leapfrogged by 12 spots to enter the top 20 of the priciest logistical space in 50 countries around the globe.

Rents of Bulgarian warehouses crept up by 8% year-on-year in 2008 thanks to a high occupancy rate and a shortage of state-of-the-art properties. Vacant speculative space is 1% in Sofia, while the other hotspots - Varna and Burgas - have seen a slight increase in vacant space but occupancy remains high, said real estate consultants Colliers...
