The plan for Sofia Studentski grad neighbourhood provides for 12 mini-campuses. Despite its specific character - a territory mainly for students` hostels, as an urban territory the zone has a standard urban statute. During the socialist are it has been built without special planning provisions for green zones so the campus concept has been discredited.

The new draft plan for regulation and construction is made by a team with a leading architect Yani Valkanov. The existence of partial urban planning changes and the already existing buildings do not allow the creation of a total zone for life and study like the ones in UK, Germany and Switzerland.

The new plan creates the opportunity for smaller campus like zones around different universities and their hostels.

Tramway line - an extension of the existing trams, will connect the neighbourhood with the downtown area. The plan provides an extensive network of bike alleys.
