Only a few major property agencies are functioning in the mountain resort of Bansko after over 80 companies had to close down, trud.bg reported. Most of the companies that closed their offices are representatives of British property agencies that were affected by the financial crisis.

Nearly 2500 British own apartments in Bansko. Half of them are currently willing to sell due to the lack of dividends. Prices have decreased significantly. Before the financial crisis affected Bulgaria, luxury apartments were sold at a price between 1500 and 1800 euro per sq m. Now, potential buyers could find the same properties at 780 euro per sq m.

Only Russian buyers are still expressing interest in property purchase in the resort.
