Seaside city of Varna reports the highest rise in property rentals in comparison with the other three big cities in Bulgaria – Sofia, Plovdiv and Burgas, shows an analysis by Address Real Estate. The rents in Varna soared by 13% between January and October 2008. The average price for a square meter in the city was EUR 5.4.

Burgas rates second with its 11% increase. There the average flat rents were EUR 3.9 per a square meter. There is a shortage of luxurious flats, which are preferred by foreigners.

In Sofia rents went up by 8%. The average rent was EUR 5.21 per a square meter.

The southern city of Plovdiv has the lowest rise in rents – 5.43%, while the price for a square meter was EUR 3.69, the lowest among the four cities.
