Dolna Mitropolia Municipality

The Dolna Mitropolia Municipality occupies an area of 674 814 decares in Central Northern Bulgaria. It encompasses parts of the valleys of the rivers Danube, Iskar and Vit and the hills among them. It borders the following municipalities: Pleven and Goulyantsi to the east, Knezha and Oryahovo to the west, Pleven and Dolni Dabnik to the south. It borders the Danube to the north.

Geologically the region is part of the Mizian Plate. There are Quaternary deposits of gravel and sand by Oryahovitsa, Dolna Mitropolia and other settlements of the municipality.
