Krivodol municipality occupies 326 square meters in the northwestern part of the Republic of Bulgaria. It is located at equal distances from the comparatively big centres Vratza and Montana. Main transport axes pass through it - the railway line Sofia - Vidin and main road Å-79 (Sofia - Mezdra - Vidin), a part of the big trans boundary highroad.
The road Montana - Borovan - Pleven - Varna, which passes along the short section of the municipality has an important transport function. This crossroad location establishes favourable prerequisites and potential for establishment of zones, near the mentioned transport corridors, for actively developing industry, agriculture, trade, as well as warehouse economics.

The ancient residential area, which successor is the present town of Krivodol, has been located in the area Kalinka, named Taftiomosis. The Thracians and the Romans, residing at these lands, developed a distinguished for the time culture. Unique monuments - roman cottage and ancient mausoleum nearby the village of Urovene, remains of roman fortresses nearby the villages of Osen, Kravoder, Galatin, etc. are preserved.

On the territory of Krivodol municipality, near by the village of Botunya, a cave with numerous Karst formations and unique underground river are detected.
The natural and historical gifts in combination with the temperate climate and the lack of big industrial enterprises to pollute the air and the waters, defined the possibility for the development of the country tourism.
