LOCATION: The village of Kamenar is situated in southeastern Bulgaria and it is part of Pomorie Municipality, Bourgas District. Pomorie, formerly known as Anhialo, is a town and seaside resort, located on a narrow rocky peninsula in Bourgas Bay. The town was founded in the 4th century BC alongside a saline lake, called sacred by the ancient Thracians for its curative properties. Nowadays, there is a modern sanatorium where one could treat their chronic diseases all the year round through the healing, firth mud, obtained from the lake. Some of the Pomorie sights are the Municipal Museum and Gallery, the Museum of Salt, the Ancient Domed Thracian Tomb(3rd century AD), the Old Revival-style Houses, the Yavorovs Rocks, etc. The Museum of Salt is the only one in Bulgaria and eastern Europe where salt is produced by evaporating sea water in sun as it was done in the distant past. The seaside resort of Pomorie has got the recognition of Blue Flag. The lovely sandy beach, rich in iron, is opened in the east and west and protected by the Balkan Mountains in the north. The sea bottom near the coast is shallow, level and slightly sloping. The numerous tourists of Pomorie enjoy their holidays staying in newly built hotels, hostels and private accommodations with all comforts. Pomorie is a beauty spot on the southern Bulgarian Black Sea Coast combining characteristic of the small towns romance and warmth.
