It is located 8 km. to the north from the town of Petrich (there is a turn aside from the road, connecting the town with international road Å79). It resembles a cone of an inactive volcano with its characteristic forms and formations. Part of it is announced for a protected natural area because of the presence of the only existing for Bulgaria endemites and relict plant and animal types. Here, numerous mineral springs with high content of sulfur, suitable for balneological treatment as well as for the production of green grasses spring out.

The home of Petrich foreteller Vanga is located in the area Kozhuh as well as the built up by her church “St. Petka”.
